The Learning Trust proudly announced the launch of the 5th annual Lights On After School campaign, a national initiative that highlights the vital role of after school programmes (ASPs) in South Africa. This year’s campaign, in partnership with the Youth and After School Programme Office (Western Cape), was themed Building Strong Foundations and focuses on the transformative power of ASPs in helping young people develop essential skills, bridge learning gaps, and prepare for future success.
This year’s campaign highlighted the pivotal role that After-School Programmes (ASPs) play in preparing young people for the future workforce, addressing a critical need in South Africa. By equipping learners with essential skills and hands-on experiences, ASPs are not only helping to close educational gaps but also ensuring that youth are better prepared to navigate the challenges of the job market, creating pathways for employment and long-term career success.
“ASPs nurture the leaders of tomorrow, and we’re excited to join forces for this year’s campaign! Lights On After School is about cultivating love and creating support so that learners can excel. We see how learners light up; it’s a lot about cultivating love and creating the support so that learners can excel,” shares The Learning Trust’s Executive Director, Charlene Petersen-Voss.
