The Learning Trust (TLT) is a thriving South African non-profit organisation, supporting the After School sector in South Africa by developing quality practitioners and building sustainable organisations. We offer focused coaching and skills-sharing in a variety of organisational development areas, and provide platforms for networking and collaborations that, in turn, serve children and youth in under-resourced communities.

TLT is a national organisation. We are looking for someone to join us in the Western Cape, to be based in Cape Town. The Programme Officer (PO) will be responsible for managing and leading TLT’s provincial grant-making, capacity support and sector-building work.

Salary Range: 300,000 – 450,000 per annum (depending on experienced qualifications). 

Contract: 1-year Fixed Term (open to renewal)

Key responsibilities of this position include:

*Supporting the national team in co-developing the organisational strategy, providing regular feedback for refinement and ongoing development

*Coordinating the implementation of the operational plan; monitoring, reviewing and reporting

*Identifying grant opportunities and managing the grant process from concept to close-out  

*Designing and monitoring capacity support interventions, workshops, and trainings

*Managing on-the-ground logistics for events and activities  

*Maintaining impeccable records for knowledge management and MEL 

*Developing and maintaining strong relationships with grantees and other stakeholders 

*Conceptualising and building partnerships with donors, government, and other stakeholders

*Supporting the national team in generating external communications to grantees and the sector

*Supporting the national team in coordinating advocacy campaigns for the sector

Requirements and essential competencies:

 ​*Bachelors degree; Masters is an advantage

*5+ years experience in the non-profit sector, education and/or community development

*Knowledge of after-school programmes, organisational development, or grant-making 

*Strong facilitation skills 

*Excellent writing skills

*Good digital skills (Intermediate Excel & Salesforce)

*Coaching mentality 

*Proactive and creative 

*Strong work ethic

*Independent thinker

*Driving license and car
